Students Ordered To Leave Campus As Religious Crisis Hits Federal University Of Technology; Yola.

Students of Federal University of Technology has been ordered to vacant the campus before 2:00 pm on Monday 5 2018.

The Senate of Modibbo Adama University of Technology Yola ordered an indefinite closure of the school following students' unrest on Sunday 4 2018.


The decision was made as a result of the emergency meeting of the senate which took place on Monday after it confirmed the killing of a student of the school.

Reports stated that even before the latest crises ,there had been growing tension in the institution,following a recent students' union election which brought about division of the students along religious rules thereby leading to protests which called for the school authority to take necessary actions.

The Dean of students affairs, Haruna Lawal stated that the students who were to write their first semester examination today (Monday) had to put the examinations on hold and were asked to hastily vacate the school.

Security personnel which  include DSS police and civil defence corps has taken over the university for the purpose of vigilance.

Mr Lawal further confirmed the death of a student saying at the wake of the crises,some students leaving in Sangere village that accommodates majority of the students,engaged in fisticuff with the residents of the area during which one of the student was injured and was taken to the university clinic for treatment,later transferred to a nearby hospital FMC in Yola where he gave up the ghost.
