Governor Ganduje Ask Fulani Herdsmen To Relocate To Kano; Says There Is "Vast Grazing Land In Kano".
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has urged Fulani herdsmen who are in other parts of Nigeria to relocate to Kano state. According to the governor, he said Kano state has a "vast grazing land" that would cater for needs of herdsmen and their cattle. Governor Ganduje spoke during the state exercise which was titled, 'Towards Conservation Of Livestock Resources And Animal Protein For Citizens Of Kano' the exercise was part of activities marking 2017/2018 livestock vaccination programme. He thereby condemned the "recent killings during the clashes between farmers and herdsmen" he said the killings were unacceptable. Ganduje further stated that as part of his state government's commitment to encourage herdsmen in the state, there is provision of facilities that would accommodate the herdsmen and their cattle to discourage them from moving to other states in search of grazing land.
